Koichi Takita San

Takita Koichi, born in 1927, is one of the deans of contemporary Japanese pottery. His style is a perfect balance of simplicity, humility and energy born out of concentration and dedication. Takita Koichi studied with two Preservers of Important Intangible Cultural Properties of Japan (Living National Treasures), Tomimoto Kenkichi (1886-1963) and Hamada Shoji (1894-1978) and in a way, his work is a fusion of both aesthetics in the spirit of the Mingei movement.
This beautiful piece shows a tropical fish painted in the soothing blue palette of the master potter.
